I have been seeing Mr Milligan since June 2019. My appointments have all been informative and helpful. I have confidence in him and trust what he suggests is the best for me. Thanks to him and his team, I have got through my treatments/surgery and look forward to life without cancer.

Some 24 years ago , following my first mammogram , I was recalled to the Queen Elizabeth where, after further investigation , breast cancer was diagnosed and I subsequently had surgery for a lumpectomy and removal of some lymph glands under my arm . Part of the treatment involved insertion of a guide wire prior to surgery – an uncomfortable procedure ! A course of intensive radio therapy then followed and with regular monitoring by mammogram I am thankful for remaining breast cancer free – until January this year. Fortunately I had requested voluntary three yearly mammograms after my 70th birthday when the routine examination procedure stops – what a blessing that was as shortly after my last mammogram I was quickly called back to the Queen Elizabeth where further tests confirmed ( unconnected to the previous incident ) breast cancer. At this point I was placed in the care of Mr. Milligan and his team . Being diagnosed with cancer once , never mind twice, creates apprehension and perhaps understandably I was very anxious . But Mr. Milligan and his team have given me the most caring and professional treatment I could have ever wished for. From the start I was reassured the problem was treatable with surgery , and relieved to be told that the unpleasant guide wire had been replaced with a tiny radio marker which I believe provides a more accurate location of the tumour and insertion is certainly far less uncomfortable. As surgery was on the same breast as the previous incident I realised that the varying size endured for so many years would be compounded and Mr. Milligan offered a reduction of the unaffected breast at the same time – how wonderful is that ! Sufficient to say I am delighted with the outcome and so grateful to Mr. Milligan for his very special skill and calming expertise. Also sincere thanks to Michelle for her advice and reassurance. If one can’t be described as lucky when diagnosed with cancer , you certainly are fortunate if you’re treated by Mr. Milligan and his excellent team at the wonderful Queen Elizabeth . Thank you all so much.

I've had two surgeries in the last year and Mr Milligan has been totally brilliant throughout. From diagnosis through to aftercare I have always felt in absolutely safe hands, which means everything when you've just had a cancer diagnosis. He explains everything clearly and concisely, checking you understand, outlining the options and listening to your views. I felt involved throughout - I never, ever felt that things were happening 'to me'. They always happened 'with me' He genuinely cares, and wants the best for you, and makes that 'best' happen. The surgeries both went extremely well - I'm not a medic, so am not really qualified to talk about the technicalities, but he's obviously a superb surgeon, and I'm absolutely delighted with the cosmetic result. So... all parts of the process happened very promptly and smoothly, with my full involvement and choice, and now the cancer is gone, and everything looks and feels great, and I genuinely never felt anxious because I trusted him - and the team - so implicitly, and felt surrounded with competence and care. Seriously, is there anything more you could ask for? ( The answer is no.) I even know that if I ever have any concerns in the future I can ring up. I'm enormously grateful to both him and the whole team - from the first callback appointment to the most recent review, it's been very clear that the team works together really well. I simply could not have had better care anywhere than the care I had from Mr Milligan and the team at QEH. I will always be grateful. Thank you! And whatever you're paying them, pay them more!
